About Théophile Berthon 1867

The history of Théophile Berthon dates back to the second half of the 19th century when a factory producing oils and soaps was established in the Provence region of France, primarily utilizing olive oil as a key ingredient. The Provence region, rich in olive groves, naturally led its inhabitants to engage in the extraction, processing, and trade of olive oil, using it for the production of various household and cosmetic products. By the late 19th century, the most popular item that gained immense popularity was the soap cube made from pure olive oil, free of preservatives. Today, Théophile Berthon continues to manufacture this simple yet fantastically effective product.

The 20th century marked a period of change for the company as new discoveries entered the market (such as foaming shower gels with laureth sulfate and powdered cleansers). However, it soon became evident that chemical ingredients were not always superior. Théophile Berthon found new inspiration to develop innovative formulas, making natural ingredients convenient and enjoyable for modern needs.

Since 2014, Théophile Berthon has been a laureate of the "SLOW COSMETIQUE" organization, signifying that the company adheres to the following standards:

  • Environmentally friendly production
  • Products that do not create dependency on the skin
  • Effective products while avoiding unrealistic promises
  • Fair pricing.
